Ok. Stop it. All of you. Stop remaking movies. Stop remaking good foreign films to suit lame American audiences who refuse to read subtitles. Stop remaking classic American films because the youth doesn’t understand why there is no color or nudity.

Now, the picture above creates a new issue. DO NOT REMAKE A THREE YEAR OLD FILM, THAT IS ALREADY IN ENGLISH. Sure, it was technically a British film; and yeah, it was played mostly at art house theaters and didn’t make money. But you know what? Sometimes the best films out there aren’t seen, or don’t make money. They are the ones I still try to call art versus just being a product.

Death at a Funeral (2007) was art. Death At a Funeral (2010) will be a shitty, knock-off product.

Because whenever I sing Add it Up, I feel the need to sing this one right after. And today at the music tumblr, I’ve recommend Add it Up as the perfect song to sing while ~~you’re having sex with a mannequin~~ commuting to work on a Monday.

To that point, Simon also says this: “When I make an album I’m thinking about the presentation and arc of the album, one song going into another, the sequencing and making sure all songs are as good as all. I don’t want to make two songs that are really good and then the rest just be fillers. I want to make a great album, and one that flows and has an arc. I want to say things within this 40-minute structure.”

And that’s all well and good, and I see and admire his point… problem is, wanting to make that album and actually making that album are two very different things.

If your intention is to make a perfectly sequenced, nuanced work of art, but I only like 3 of the songs… would you rather I buy those three songs, or buy the album and feel ripped off?

I still kind of hate itunes culture.

Belle & Sebastian - “If She Wants Me”

For those who have been following my blog from the beginning, you’ve probably realized that I have a stiffy for Belle & Sebastian. I decided to share that love with Tuneage.

This song, off of their 2003 release, Dear Catastrophe Waitress is one of those songs that just flows perfectly. I like my music how I like my coffee… light and sweet. Ok that was really lame, but you get the idea. Belle & Sebastian have the great ability to keep simple songs sounding interesting. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten sick of listening to this song. Anyway, I think its a great listen for a lazy day or a train ride… or if you’ve been having ‘one of those days’ and need to listen to something that will chill you out without making you fall asleep. Enjoy!
